Virtual Mentors
This section is designed to partner younger, more junior people with more experienced mentors. We have already had a number of individuals sign up as mentors, so we need mentees to sign up. The mentors range from medical students to full department chairs. The more you have done, the more likely I am to partner you with a more experienced mentor. To sign up for the program, please send me your resume and what you are interested in doing long term. I will try to match you up with a mentor as best as possible.
For the Proteges:
The mentoring relationship will be dependent upon your efforts. Initiate the relationship by either calling or emailing your mentor.
Communicate with your mentor at least once a month.
If you live in the same city or are visiting the mentor's city, we recommend that the mentor and protege meet face-to-face.
Help to shape the overall agenda for the relationship.
Establish realistic and attainable expectations.
Be open in communicating with your mentor.
Establish priority issues for action or support.
Don't expect your mentor to be an expert in every facet of business.
Solicit feedback from your mentor.
For the Mentors:
Please respond timely to communication from the protege.
Communicate with your protege at least once a month.
If you live in the same city, we recommend that the mentor host a job shadowing day to give the protégé an inside look at his/her company.
Provide guidance based on past business experiences.
Help protégé identify problems and solutions.
Offer constructive criticism in a supportive way.
Share stories, including mistakes.
Refer protégé to other business associates.
Be honest about business expertise.
Solicit feedback from protégé.
Mentors:
If you would like to sign up to be a mentor, contact me.
